About Wargaming

The company, in brief.

What they do

Wargaming develops and publishes online games for PC, console, and mobile. Its main games are the free-to-play titles World of Tanks, World of Warships, and World of Tanks Blitz. The company started in 1998 and has its headquarters in Nicosia, Cyprus. Postings count 15 offices, with studios in Chicago, Prague, Shanghai, Tokyo, and Vilnius.

What they value

  • Happy players: player happiness is the base of the company's success.
  • Evidence: teams decide from research, analytics, and data.
  • Agility: respond quickly to what players expect, and keep improving.
  • Results matter: commit to the results that players care about, and deliver them.
  • Teamwork: great teams are humble, honest, and hungry for the next challenge.
  • Fair free-to-play: every player can enjoy a game in full.

Where they hire

Of 39 Postings, 13 are in Nicosia and 12 in Belgrade, then Vilnius, Prague, Warsaw, Kyiv, Berlin, and Austin. Most roles are hybrid, with 2 or 3 office days a week. The Kyiv and Berlin roles are remote inside one country. Fourteen Postings offer relocation and immigration support, and 16 say they do not.

Teams and roles

The board has 39 Postings for 22 roles. Many roles have one Posting for each city.

  • World of Tanks on PC: 10 Postings for an art manager, senior concept artists, a gameplay developer, and a historical consultant for armored vehicles.
  • World of Warships: 13 Postings for a game design director, a game designer, UI and UX designers, a senior frontend engineer, performance QA (quality assurance) engineers, and a CRM (customer relationship management) marketing manager.
  • World of Tanks: HEAT: a 3D character artist and a CRM producer.
  • Mobile BI (business intelligence) and New Games: 4 Postings for one analytics engineer role.
  • Publishing: 3 Postings for a community manager for World of Tanks Blitz.
  • Engine and art: render engineers for an unannounced project, and a CG (computer graphics) artist in Kyiv.
  • Company teams: a manual QA engineer for internal IT products, a head of administration, a head of workplace and employee experience, and a UX researcher in the Center for Player Insights.

What they look for

Almost every Posting asks for English, most often at upper-intermediate (B2) level or higher, and for a CV in English. Many Postings also name Russian. The manual QA, UI/UX designer, and historical consultant roles require it, and the community manager role requires Ukrainian and Russian. The game design director, game designer, frontend, and CRM marketing roles list it as an advantage.

Art and design roles ask for a portfolio and for experience in games. The 3D character artist role asks for 5 years in the industry or one shipped AAA title. The game design director role asks for a shipped AAA title in a leadership position. Senior roles ask you to mentor other people.

Engineering roles name their tools. The gameplay developer role asks for Python, with C++ as an advantage. The render engineer role asks for C++, a graphics API such as DirectX or Vulkan, and shaders. The frontend role asks for React and TypeScript. The analytics engineer role asks for dbt, Snowflake, SQL, Python, and AWS.

Many Postings list work with AI tools as an advantage, and the CRM marketing role requires it. Several Postings name a passion for games or experience with Wargaming titles.
