About Trend Micro

The company, in brief.

What they do

Trend Micro makes cybersecurity software for companies and for people at home. Steve Chang, Jenny Chang, and Eva Chen founded it in 1988 to make antivirus software. Its enterprise unit is TrendAI, and its platform is TrendAI Vision One. More than 500,000 companies use its products. It has about 6,700 staff, and its shares trade on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

What they value

  • Customer: customers are the top priority, and staff solve real security problems for them.
  • Change: change is an opportunity, so teams test new ideas and pivot quickly.
  • Collaboration: treat everyone with respect and empathy, and break down silos.
  • Innovation: anticipate what is next, and dare to fail.
  • Trustworthiness: be sincere, and do the right thing for customers, partners, and each other.
  • Doing good: staff build houses in the Philippines and teach families about online safety.

Where they hire

Of 214 Postings, 117 are in Asia outside India: Taipei 75, Tokyo 18, Manila 16, Singapore 4, Seoul 2, Hong Kong 1, and Bangkok 1. The United States has 30. No Posting carries a remote flag. Some US roles ask for 3 office days a week. Only US and Canada Postings mention visa sponsorship, and they refuse it.

Teams and roles

The board has 214 Postings. Workday groups them by job family.

  • Product Development, 74 Postings: backend, cloud, full-stack, and test engineers for Vision One, email security, and endpoint agents on Windows and Linux. Taipei has 63, Austin 8, Manila 2, and Ottawa 1. Many titles name applied AI, AI agents, or ML (machine learning) platforms.
  • Sales, 59 Postings: account executives, strategic account managers, and partner managers in many countries. Tokyo has the most, with 8.
  • Technical Services and Support, 38 Postings: solutions engineers, technical account managers, and customer success advisors who help customers deploy the products.
  • Threat, 10 Postings: threat and vulnerability researchers, an incident response analyst, and a red team that does penetration tests.
  • DataIQ, 8 Postings: AI engineers, full-stack developers, and a digital forensics analyst, mostly in Taipei.
  • Marketing, HR, finance, and administration: 14 Postings together.
  • Non-regular roles, 11 Postings: mostly interns in Manila and Taipei.

VicOne, the unit for automotive security, hires engineers and threat researchers in Taipei and Manila.

What they look for

Taipei engineering Postings repeat the same list. They ask for a degree in computer science or equal experience. They ask for one language such as Golang, Python, Java, or C#. They ask for a cloud platform such as AWS or Azure, and many ask for Docker and Kubernetes. About half ask for daily work with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor. About half ask for good English, although the team is in Taiwan.

Threat roles want hands-on penetration tests, knowledge of web vulnerabilities, report writing, and certificates such as OSCP.

Sales roles want years of enterprise account work in IT or security, contact with C-level buyers, and work through resellers and partners. Some US sales roles name the MEDDPICC method for deal qualification. Support roles want Windows Server, Linux, and network skills, plus the local language. The Hong Kong role asks for Cantonese and English.

Most Tokyo Postings are written in Japanese. The security analyst role in Tokyo requires business Japanese and English reading and writing. Manila graduate and intern Postings ask for a related degree in progress or complete, and some name a hybrid setup.
