About Swiggy

The company, in brief.

What they do

Swiggy is an on-demand delivery platform in India. It started in 2014 as food delivery. The Swiggy app now also has Instamart for groceries in minutes, Dineout for paying restaurant bills with discounts, Genie for pick-up and drop, and Crew, an AI concierge for travel, gifts, and dining. It works with hundreds of thousands of restaurants in hundreds of cities.

What they value

  • Think big.
  • Keep the consumer first.
  • Stay humble in execution.
  • Never settle for the status quo.

Where they hire

Almost every role is in India. Bengaluru has the most, then Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and Hyderabad. Many sales roles are in smaller cities. Most roles are in the office every day. Some Bengaluru roles are hybrid, and a risk role works remotely with a meet-up in Bengaluru each quarter.

Teams and roles

Most open roles are in sales, and few are in engineering.

  • Sales: sales managers who sign and grow restaurant partners in a city, and key account managers for large restaurant brands and Dineout partners.
  • Engineering: backend SDEs in Go and Python for Crew's conversational AI and customer platform, and a frontend SDE in React who works with WebViews and React Native.
  • Data science: optimization for the Instamart supply chain with linear and integer programming, and ML for recommendation, search, ads, and discounts.
  • Product: product managers for the post-order experience, such as the tracking screen and customer support.
  • Design: product designers for Instamart's internal supply chain tools, and a design leader for brand, motion, and content.
  • Also: marketing, finance, legal, business analysis, warehouse operations, and trust and safety.

What they look for

Engineering and data roles ask for a B.Tech or M.Tech from a reputed college, strong data structures and system design, and years of work in a product company. Newer engineering postings want people who use AI coding tools or are keen to, and experience with LLMs in production. Sales roles want people who meet targets, work in the field, and are very good with Excel. The postings do not describe the interview steps.
