About Stora Enso

The company, in brief.

What they do

Stora Enso turns wood into packaging, paper, and building materials. The group has its roots in Finland and Sweden and runs mills across Europe. This board is for site opportunities, so almost every posting is at a named mill or factory rather than a head office. The work is making the material and keeping the machines running.

What they value

  • Keeping the plant running, because maintenance and production are equal and largest.
  • Preventive work, which mechanic postings describe as planned inspection and lubrication.
  • Local language. Postings appear in Polish and German without translation.
  • Business-to-business selling with technical knowledge of the product.
  • Safety and sustainability, which each have their own postings.

Where they hire

Of 84 postings, Austria holds 17, Czechia 14, the Netherlands 14, Poland 13, Finland 12, and Sweden nine. Belgium and Estonia hold three each, and Germany, Latvia, and China one each. Named sites include Mosina and Ostrołęka in Poland, Ostrava in Czechia, and Ybbs an der Donau in Austria. None is remote.

Teams and roles

Two groups make up more than half the board, and both are on the factory floor.

  • Maintenance: 24 postings, the joint largest group. These are mechanics and automation technicians.
  • Production: 24 postings, the other half of the plant.
  • Sales: six postings, plus six in supply chain.
  • Finance: five postings, plus five in sourcing and logistics.
  • Fibre supply: three postings, which buy the wood.
  • Information technology and digitalisation: three postings.
  • Innovation: two postings. People and culture holds two.
  • Single postings: quality, sustainability, safety, and a seasonal, trainee, or thesis worker role.

What they look for

Plant postings are written in the language of the country and describe the machines. The mechanic posting in Mosina, written in Polish, asks you to keep machines and technical equipment fully working, carry out preventive inspections and routine servicing, remove faults and breakdowns, oversee the mechanical workshop, and take responsibility for preventive, lubrication, and overhaul plans. Sales postings state the years and the language plainly: the sales manager posting, also in Polish, asks for at least three to four years in business-to-business sales, says experience in offset packaging is an advantage, and requires a higher education qualification, good Microsoft Office skills, English at B2 level, and a category B driving licence. It also lists personal qualities, including creativity and making decisions from data.
