Skylark Drones jobs, judged for you, free

What they do

Skylark Drones makes Spectra, a cloud platform that turns drone data into worksite analytics for mining, solar, transport, and utilities. Drone Mission Ops is its set of tools to manage drone missions, and Watchtower is its free airspace map. A network of drone teams across India collects the data. The site counts more than 100 enterprise clients.

What they value

• Mutual respect: treat everyone with kindness, empathy, and professionalism.
• Communication: be clear, open, and thoughtful, and value clarity.
• Dependability and adaptability: own the work and stay flexible.
• Bias for action: take initiative, and put progress before perfection.
• Strive for excellence: set high standards and keep improving.
• Learn and grow: learn from success, failure, and feedback.

Where they hire

All 16 open postings name Bengaluru, and one names the HSR Layout office. No posting says remote. On-field drone pilots and DGPS survey engineers travel a lot to project sites across India. Office-based drone pilots work night shifts. The postings say nothing about the right to work or visa sponsorship.

Teams and roles

Most open roles are in operations and field work, not software. Three of the 16 postings are open calls: one for any background, one for interns, and one for consultants.

• Operations and delivery: a CAD specialist and CAD engineers who turn survey, DGPS, and GIS data into drawings. DGPS survey engineers do high-precision land surveys. There is also a field operation engineer, and an operations coordinator who plans drone missions and pilot schedules.
• Field survey: drone pilots, on contract, who fly missions for enterprise customers or support missions from the office.
• Drone Mission Operations: engineers who plan, run, and monitor missions on the mission planning platforms of Skylark.
• Solutions: a platform engineer who builds software agents that run fleets of drones and autonomous drone docks. A mining sector solutions lead shapes drone and software offers for large mining companies.
• Hardware and manufacturing: a drone hardware engineer who designs airframes, propulsion, and avionics and works on drone type certification.
• Sales and growth: an enterprise sales and business development role, and a GTM growth manager in the Founders Office.
• Business development: a government tendering and bid management intern.

The CAD engineer, DGPS survey engineer, and drone pilot roles are contracts. The CAD specialist role is a three-month contract at 25,000 rupees a month. The tendering internship is three months at a stipend of 25,000 rupees a month, with a full-time offer of 4 LPA after a good evaluation. The pay field of the platform engineer posting shows INR 8,00,000 to 25,00,000. Most other postings state no pay.

What they look for

Almost every posting asks for an ownership mindset, attention to detail, and good communication and coordination skills. Many ask for a bias for action and the ability to work in ambiguous problem spaces. Field roles need a willingness to travel a lot and to work on site for long periods. Drone pilots must be certified under the applicable regulations. CAD roles need strong AutoCAD skills, and the CAD specialist needs a diploma or degree in civil engineering. The hardware engineer needs an understanding of drone regulations and type certification, and experience with DGCA rules is preferred. Sales, GTM, and mining roles need experience with senior stakeholders in large enterprises. The intern and open postings accept fresh graduates and people from any background. Only the tendering internship lists its selection steps: HR screening, a functional assessment, a hiring manager interview, and the offer.
