The company, in brief.
What they do
Seoul Robotics builds autonomous driving systems for factories, ports, logistics yards, and airports. One system runs on the vehicle. The other puts sensors and computers on the site, and the site drives the vehicles. The company started in 2017 and says it works with BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, and Hyundai. It also sells software that reads LiDAR (laser distance sensor) data.
What they value
- Add value.
- Earn trust.
- Own your job.
- Keep growing.
- Respect diversity: the team comes from more than 10 countries.
- English as the working language.
Where they hire
All 12 Postings are in South Korea: 8 in Seoul and 4 in Pangyo, Gyeonggi. No Posting is remote. Each Posting lists hybrid work and flexible hours as benefits. The Postings say nothing about visa sponsorship, but the careers page lists visa sponsorship and a relocation bonus as perks. The company has no internships.
Teams and roles
The board has 12 Postings in three departments.
- Tech: 10 Postings. Perception roles are a Director of Machine Learning and Computer Vision and a Senior Machine Learning Engineer. Software roles are a System Software Engineer, an Autonomy Software Engineer, a Senior Backend Engineer, a Senior Full-Stack Engineer, and a Quality Assurance Engineer. Vehicle roles are a Senior Automotive System Engineer and a Senior Vehicle Electrical Systems Engineer.
- Tech also holds one open call for technical research personnel at the company's research institute. The Posting describes no role. It asks people to email the company first, because the number of places changes.
- Business Development: a Project Manager for autonomous driving programs, who works between customers and the engineering teams.
- Operations: an Accounting Manager. This Posting is written in Korean.
What they look for
Most Postings ask for 4 or 5 years of experience, and many ask for a bachelor's degree. The Automotive System Engineer role asks for 10 years, and the Quality Assurance role asks for 2. The Autonomy Software Engineer role is open to junior and mid-level engineers and does not require robotics experience.
Language rules differ by role. Most engineering Postings ask for fluent or business English. The Quality Assurance role requires fluent Korean. The Full-Stack and Automotive System Engineer roles require both Korean and English. The Project Manager role requires excellent English and prefers Japanese or Korean.
Software roles ask for C++ and Linux, or for Go, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, and Kafka. The Full-Stack role adds TypeScript, React, and Next.js. Perception roles ask for PyTorch, 3D geometry, sensor calibration, and SLAM (building a map while finding your place on it). One safety standard repeats: ISO 26262 appears in the Automotive System, Quality Assurance, and Electrical Postings.
Senior roles ask people to lead code and design reviews and to mentor others. Two Postings ask for travel to customer sites, mainly in Japan and Korea for the Project Manager. The Accounting Manager role asks for 3 years of experience with period closing, and prefers K-IFRS, audit, and IPO experience. Most hiring processes end with a CEO interview and a reference check.
