About Robinhood

The company, in brief.

What they do

Robinhood's mission is to democratize finance for all, so that everyone, not just the wealthy, can reach the financial system. It builds products that let people start investing at their own pace. Its engineering spans Crypto, Brokerage, and Core Engineering. These teams build the systems for trading, holding customer assets, account records, reporting, and payments.

What they value

  • Customers are why they exist, so fix their pain points quickly.
  • Operate with extreme urgency, without giving up quality.
  • Trust is hard earned and easily lost, so follow the rules and never trade trust for speed.
  • Earn each other's trust through honesty, inclusion, and respect.
  • Level the playing field, so everyone can reach the financial system.
  • Use data and experiments to decide, and follow the crowd only when it is right.

Where they hire

Most roles are in US offices: Menlo Park, New York, Denver, Chicago, Bellevue, Westlake (Texas), Washington, DC, and Lake Mary (Florida). Toronto has 19 roles. A few are in Europe and Singapore. Most roles ask for the office at least three days a week. Some overnight customer roles go remote after onboarding. No Posting mentions visa sponsorship.

Teams and roles

Engineering is the largest group, with more than 70 of 159 Postings. The board also lists roles in credit cards, banking, and Robinhood Ventures.

  • Engineering: backend, full stack, web, Android, and iOS engineers, plus teams for the company's shared systems, such as data storage, data streaming, system monitoring, and tools for developers. Crypto engineering builds the crypto wallet and puts stocks on blockchains, which it calls tokenization.
  • Machine learning and data: machine learning engineers for AI platforms and AI agents, data scientists, and a quantitative researcher.
  • Security: engineers who attack the company's own systems to find weak points, engineers who find and respond to attacks, and AI security.
  • Customer care: customer experience representatives for brokerage, active traders, and Robinhood Concierge, some on overnight shifts.
  • Operations and risk: fraud investigators, anti-money-laundering investigators, margin specialists, and compliance roles.
  • Product, design, finance, legal, marketing, and people roles.
  • Early career: 35 Postings are 2027 internships or new graduate roles, in engineering, finance, operations, and more.

What they look for

Senior engineers need 5+ years of software work. Backend roles ask for 3+ years of building large systems that run across many computers and answer fast, and of designing web interfaces that let programs talk to each other. A Toronto wallet role names Go, Python, or Java. A staff machine learning role for AI agents needs 10+ years, agents already in use, and a Master's degree or equal experience. Product managers need 5+ years of shipping consumer products and use of research and data. Some ask for experience with AI tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or ChatGPT. Crypto roles ask for knowledge of blockchains, such as smart contracts and wallets. Product designers need experience with complex interfaces, ideally in financial technology or trading. Customer experience roles ask for active FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses, the US licenses for selling investments. Fraud investigators need 1 to 2 years in fraud or financial analysis. Many roles ask for clear communication and comfort with a fast pace.
