The company, in brief.
What they do
Quo, formerly OpenPhone, makes a business phone system for small businesses. It puts calls, texts, and customer information in one app with AI. Sona, its AI agent, answers calls and texts. A public API and MCP let other tools and agents use Quo. More than 120,000 companies use it. Quo started in 2018 and went through Y Combinator.
What they value
- Default to action, and hold yourself accountable to outcomes.
- Do the hard work that makes things feel easy, and care about craft.
- Share context, trust the people closest to the work, and help each other.
- Stay curious and give honest feedback, whatever your role or level.
- Leave things better than you found them.
Where they hire
Quo is remote-first and builds communities in a few hub cities. Every Posting is remote. Eight are in the United States, and seven of those are also open in Canada. One is in Toronto and one is in Honduras. The support role works North American hours and some weekends. The Postings say nothing about visa sponsorship.
Teams and roles
The board lists ten openings.
- Engineering: four roles. A senior backend engineer, a frontend engineer on calling and messaging, a staff engineer for the API platform and MCP, and a staff engineer for the AI agent platform behind Sona and Quo Agent.
- Product and design: a senior product manager for billing, accounts, and telecom compliance, and a senior product designer for the iOS and Android apps.
- Partnerships: a partner development manager who brings in agency partners, and a senior technology partner manager for integrations and AI partners.
- Customer experience: a technical support representative who fixes API and integration problems, and a senior operations engineer who builds AI tools for support.
What they look for
Most Postings ask for ownership and clear communication. Most also ask for real use of AI tools in daily work. The staff engineering roles ask for ten or more years, or a record of leading the architecture of large systems. Most senior roles ask for five or more years. The support role asks for one to three years and an understanding of REST APIs. Quo asks you to apply even if you do not meet every requirement.
