The company, in brief.
What they do
Proof of Human checks that each user of a website is a real person, in real time and without CAPTCHAs. Its API reads typing, mouse movement, and scrolling to detect bots and AI agents. It collects no personal data. It is built for market research, financial services, and ticketing. It is a public benefit corporation, and it publishes research.
What they value
- Find a starting point without a map, and build the next version.
- Be curious across disciplines, and speak the language of the other person.
- Move fast, take ownership, and push through setbacks until the work is done.
- Think in hypotheses, follow the evidence, and change the approach.
- Treat human verification as a technical frontier and a public responsibility.
Where they hire
All three open postings are in San Francisco. The founding GTM role and the founding member of technical staff role are on site. The part-time business development representative role is remote, with a flexible 20-hour week. The postings do not mention visa sponsorship.
Teams and roles
Two Princeton PhD scientists, Mayank Agrawal and Matt Hardy, founded Proof of Human in 2023. Y Combinator and Brickyard Ventures back it. The company was formerly Roundtable AI.
- Engineering: a founding member of technical staff who builds backend and cloud infrastructure on AWS, Node, and Python for millions of sessions a minute. This engineer can also help write research papers.
- GTM: a founding GTM hire who works on sales, growth, and market development, and owns deals from outreach to close.
- Sales: a part-time BDR who finds prospects and closes deals.
Every posting states pay. The two founding roles offer 1% to 3% equity. The BDR role pays $2.5K a month plus uncapped commission.
What they look for
The engineering role asks for three or more years of software development, strong backend skill, JavaScript, Node.js, and Python. It also wants cloud infrastructure at scale on AWS, GCP, or Azure, and a strong quantitative background. Research experience is a plus. The GTM and BDR roles want people who take initiative without direction, and who explain a product clearly to each buyer. The BDR role wants someone who loves to sell and uses automation to keep the pipeline moving. The postings do not describe the interview steps.
