About Postman

The company, in brief.

What they do

Postman makes an API platform that developers use to design, test, document, and monitor APIs. More than 45 million developers and 500,000 organizations use it. It started in Bangalore, and its founders still lead it. Newer products include Flows, Postman Insights, Fabric Gateway, and Fern.

What they value

  • Create with curiosity.
  • Earn trust.
  • Embrace constraints.
  • Win together.
  • Own and deliver, and learn from failures.

Where they hire

Postman is based in San Francisco, with offices in Boston, New York, Austin, Tokyo, London, and Bangalore, where it was founded. Every role names an office and none are remote. Half the open roles are in San Francisco. India is the next largest, in Bangalore and Hyderabad. A few sit in New York, Austin, Boston, Cupertino, and London.

Teams and roles

Engineering is by far the largest group, and most roles are senior, staff, or lead. Sales, legal, and training hire one or two people at a time.

  • Platform: API Network, search, identity and access, messaging, observability, collections, and cloud and business platform work.
  • Infrastructure: an engineering head for infrastructure and site reliability.
  • Monetization: backend and frontend engineers on billing and plans.
  • Client Platform: build tooling, shared component libraries, and the desktop app in React and TypeScript.
  • AI: Members of Technical Staff who lead agent development and AI reliability, plus a head of AI platform engineering.
  • Fern: API documentation and SDKs, in New York.
  • Codegen: code generation engineers in Austin.
  • Flows: the Flows runtime, in New York.
  • Security: offensive security at principal level.
  • Product: a Staff Product Manager and a Product Builder in San Francisco.

Outside engineering the board lists commercial counsel, a sales compensation analyst, an account development representative, and a technical trainer.

What they look for

Postman wants smart, nice people and hires from nontraditional paths. Even non-engineering roles ask for fluency in APIs and developer workflows. Many postings ask for a bias for action. Pay follows performance. The site and postings do not describe the interview steps.
