About Plane

The company, in brief.

What they do

Plane builds one platform for a team's projects, knowledge, and requests, for people and AI agents together. It began as an open source project on GitHub in 2022, and the code is public. Customers use Plane Cloud, run it on their own servers, or run it with no internet connection. Many customers are in aerospace, defense, and finance.

What they value

  • Build in the open, where users read the code.
  • Take the extra hour to do it properly the first time.
  • Own the whole problem, end to end.
  • Remove toil, ceremony, and handoffs.
  • Design for security on customers' own hardware.
  • Let agents do the toil and people do the judgment.

Where they hire

The board has 33 Postings: 14 in the US, 10 in India, 3 in Canada, and 2 each in Italy, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The careers page says they hire in Hyderabad and San Francisco and that each listing states its workplace type. The Postings do not say if a role is remote. They say nothing about visa sponsorship.

Teams and roles

  • Engineering: backend engineers in Python and Node.js, frontend engineers in React, mobile in Flutter, AI application, full stack, quality engineering, DevOps, and forward deployed engineers.
  • Go-to-market: enterprise account executives, solutions architects, customer success, and GTM engineers who run outbound email.
  • Marketing: product marketing and content marketing in India.
  • Product and design: a senior product designer in the US.

What they look for

Most Postings ask you to point to work you shipped and say one decision you would now make differently. Engineering roles ask for production experience, such as Python and Django with SQL, or React and TypeScript. Senior roles ask for 8 or more years. Many Postings like people who contributed to Plane or ran it on their own servers. Many also like work in regulated or air-gapped settings, which have no internet connection. Clear writing comes up often. Every hire does a paid work trial of two to five days.
