About Persona

The company, in brief.

What they do

Persona builds an identity platform that businesses configure for their own needs. It helps companies verify that their users are who they say they are. Products include government ID checks, selfie checks, and database checks. Reddit uses it for age checks, and OpenAI uses it to keep bad actors out.

What they value

  • People first: collaborate, and do what is right for customers and the team.
  • Keep a high bar today and a higher one tomorrow.
  • Lead by serving: listen, show respect, and help others.
  • Work in public: share early, ask questions, and show rough demos.
  • Start small, think big, and learn as you deliver.
  • Speed is not a tradeoff: work fast and keep quality high.

Where they hire

Most of the 16 Postings are in San Francisco (12) or New York (4). Office roles are hybrid: three days a week in San Francisco, and Tuesday to Thursday in New York. Three networking roles are remote. The Infrastructure team works remote across the US and Canada. No Posting mentions the right to work or visa sponsorship.

Teams and roles

Engineering has the most open roles.

  • Infrastructure: a new Edge team owns the traffic path, with roles for edge, traffic, and network engineers who work with Cloudflare, ingress, DNS, and the service mesh (the layer that routes traffic between services).
  • Data stores: a senior engineer runs MySQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and Redis on Google Cloud.
  • Security: a product security engineer and a security software engineer.
  • Go-to-market: a solutions engineer, an account executive, customer operations, and GTM systems.
  • Finance and legal: a GL accountant, a tax accountant, and commercial counsel.
  • Design and brand: a lead web designer and a brand writer.
  • IT: a tech ops analyst in New York.

Pay ranges go from $70,000 to $280,000 USD, and every Posting offers equity. Candidates verify their identity with Persona during the interview process.

What they look for

Every Posting names a minimum number of years of experience, from 2 years for sales and legal roles to 10 or more for the lead web designer. Six Postings ask for strong written and verbal communication. Several ask for comfort with ambiguity in a fast-paced company. The networking and data stores roles ask for Kubernetes and infrastructure as code (servers set up from code files). The networking roles also want production services in Go, TypeScript, or similar languages. The accounting roles want US GAAP and NetSuite or QuickBooks.
