About Ninja Van

The company, in brief.

What they do

Ninja Van delivers parcels across Southeast Asia. It started in Singapore in 2014. Its postings say it is the region's largest last-mile logistics company, works with over 35,000 merchants, and delivers more than 1,000 parcels every minute across six countries. A second unit, Ninja Mart, moves everyday consumer goods from brands to small shops in suburban and rural areas.

What they value

  • Technology inside a physical business, which postings call disrupting a massive industry with software.
  • Named methods, such as algorithm-based optimisation, dynamic routing, and end-to-end tracking.
  • Working with little supervision, which operations postings ask for directly.
  • Reaching small towns, not only cities, which Ninja Mart exists for.
  • Humility about the work. Postings say there is much room for improvement.

Where they hire

Of 149 postings, Malaysia holds about 90. Shah Alam holds 26 and Subang Jaya 21, both near Kuala Lumpur. Singapore holds 14, the Philippines 12, Indonesia 10, China nine, Thailand four, and Vietnam two. No posting is remote. Most name a warehouse, a hub, or a state rather than a head office.

Teams and roles

Operations is more than a third of the board. Eighty-four postings are permanent, 37 are fixed-term contracts, and 24 are internships.

  • Fleet: 21 postings, the largest team, covering the vehicles and the drivers.
  • Ninja Mart: 16 postings in the team and 13 in the department, for the consumer goods business.
  • Last mile: 15 postings, the final leg of a delivery.
  • Sales: 11 postings in central sales, six in corporate sales, and four in field sales.
  • Transport and cross-border operations: eight and six postings, which move parcels between countries.
  • Business to business: five postings.
  • Warehouse work: sort and fulfilment teams, plus distribution point retail.
  • Support functions: four postings each in human resources and finance, three in marketing and public relations, three in corporate legal, and one in quality assurance.

What they look for

Operations postings state a qualification and a number of years. The warehouse supervisor posting asks for at least a diploma in any field and at least two years of working experience, and says logistics or warehouse experience is considered. It also says the supervisor must be prepared to manage and discipline drivers. The duties are concrete: hitting sort efficiency and throughput targets, scheduling work across the team, coordinating truck loading and unloading, and keeping the warehouse safe and clean. Internships describe the tasks rather than a degree: the marketing internship asks you to run communication channels, write social media content, and support events. Twenty- four of the postings are internships, so this board suits people starting out.
