About Nike

The company, in brief.

What they do

NIKE, Inc. is the company behind the Nike, Jordan, and Converse brands. It hires for retail, distribution, manufacturing, and corporate roles. Its mission is to unite the world through sport. Its line is: if you have a body, you are an athlete. Its global headquarters is the World Campus in Beaverton, Oregon.

What they value

  • Serve athletes, and turn ambition into achievement.
  • Create the future of sport, and do not fear failure.
  • Be on the offense always: set the pace and act decisively.
  • Do the right thing, and own the results.
  • Win as a team, and celebrate the wins together.

Where they hire

The board has about 856 Postings. Beaverton, Oregon has the most. China, India, Japan, and much of Europe follow. Many roles are in stores across Europe, Canada, Australia, and Asia. Store roles ask for weekend shifts, and some for nights and holidays. The N7 internship is in person at the Beaverton campus. The Postings read do not mention sponsorship.

Teams and roles

Store roles are the largest group. Nike calls a retail associate an Athlete.

  • Retail: athletes, stockroom staff, coaches, team leads, and assistant store managers in Nike and Nike Factory stores.
  • Design and product creation: footwear, apparel, graphics, and materials designers, product developers, and product line managers for Nike, Jordan, and Converse.
  • Technology: software engineers at the India Technology Center (ITC) in Karnataka, India. One team there builds Nike's order management platform.
  • Early careers: paid internships, including the 10-week N7 internship for Native American and Indigenous youth.
  • Also marketing, merchandising, finance, HR and compensation, and supply chain.

What they look for

Store roles ask for retail or customer service experience, energy, and a love of sport. Some ask for full availability across the week. Design roles ask for a design degree or equal experience, skill in Adobe Creative Suite (design software), and a portfolio, which some roles require. A materials developer role asks for knowledge of footwear construction and materials. A senior software role at ITC asks for 7 or more years of full-stack work (both the server and the web page) in Java and Spring Boot, or Node.js and React. It also asks for AI coding tools such as Cursor. A compensation role asks for 6 or more years and sound judgment when not all facts are known.
