About Nexla

The company, in brief.

What they do

Nexla makes a data integration platform. It connects AI apps and agents to more than 1,000 enterprise systems and moves data between them. With Express.dev, teams build data pipelines from a prompt. With MCP Studio, they build governed MCP servers for agents. Customers include DoorDash, LinkedIn, and Johnson & Johnson. Nexla started in 2016.

What they value

  • Have empathy, for customers, colleagues, family, and everyone else.
  • Be curious: ask, innovate, learn, repeat.
  • Be intellectually honest, and never push anything under the rug.
  • Achieve excellence: do not only try, get it done.
  • Remember to relax, because it is a marathon and not a sprint.

Where they hire

Four of the five open roles are in Bengaluru, and one is in San Mateo, California. Nexla calls itself remote-first. Three Bengaluru roles are hybrid, and two of them ask for two days a week in the office. The marketing role can also be remote within India. The postings say nothing about visa sponsorship.

Teams and roles

The board lists five openings across engineering, customer success, marketing, and product.

  • Engineering: a senior engineering manager in Bengaluru owns the connector layer and the runtime, with the DevOps and QA work around them. The runtime uses Kafka, an execution engine that Nexla built, and Ray. The role is about half design and code and half team leadership. Part of the team is in Eastern Europe.
  • API team: a software engineer in Bengaluru writes Python each day with FastAPI and SQLAlchemy, on MySQL and Postgres. The team owns the management plane for all operations on Nexla.
  • Customer success: a senior or team lead manager in Bengaluru runs 10 to 15 enterprise accounts and coaches the other managers on a small team.
  • Marketing: one marketer in Bengaluru owns SEO, paid ads, the website funnel, marketing automation, and content. No team reports to this role.
  • Product: a product manager in San Mateo works with the CEO, engineering leaders, and customers. The posting gives a salary range of $150,000 to $180,000.

The Bengaluru postings say that pay includes base salary and equity, and they give no amounts. Most Bengaluru roles ask for some overlap with US Pacific hours.

What they look for

All four Bengaluru postings ask that you use AI tools in your daily work. You must be able to say where the tools help and where they mislead you. The product role lists experience with AI agents and MCP as a plus.

The roles are hands-on. The engineering manager must still write code, and the customer success lead carries accounts. The engineering manager and the customer success lead each need 12 or more years of experience. The Python engineer needs 7 or more years, with Python as the primary language. The product manager needs 4 to 8 years, and the marketer needs 2 to 5 years in B2B.

Hiring takes four or five conversations over one to three weeks. Candidates can use AI in the coding round, and the interviewers ask what you delegated, verified, and threw away. The marketer presents a plan for the first 90 days, and the engineering manager presents how to improve Express.dev. The engineering postings say that you hear back either way.
