About NewLimit

The company, in brief.

What they do

NewLimit develops medicines to treat aging. The medicines reprogram the epigenome, the marks on DNA that tell a cell which genes to use. They restore youthful function in old cells. An AI system designs the medicines, and genomics tests thousands of designs at once. The first programs are for the liver, the blood vessels, and the immune system.

What they value

  • Inherent optimism: stay optimistic, and see reality for what it is.
  • Mission focus: give full attention to progress toward the goal.
  • Clear communication that is concise, energizing, and kind.
  • Independent thinking: take input, then come to your own conclusions.
  • Speed: after reasonable safety steps, speed of execution comes first.
  • Everyone executes: there are no pure management roles.

Where they hire

All 12 open roles are in South San Francisco, California. The postings do not mention remote work. Their benefits include meals and snacks on site, and the mRNA role is partly in the lab. The postings say nothing about visas or sponsorship.

Teams and roles

Most open roles are for scientists who work on preclinical research. NewLimit plans its first human trial for 2027, and some roles prepare for it.

  • Metabolism: a scientist who builds assays for liver cell function.
  • Translational Sciences: an in vivo pharmacology scientist who designs animal studies for all programs.
  • Vascular: a scientist who measures how endothelial cells, the cells that line blood vessels, decline with age.
  • Immunology: a scientist who leads research on T cells for inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
  • Single Cell Technology: a research associate who processes tissue samples and runs single cell experiments. A senior scientist builds biomarker assays that show the activity of the mRNA medicines.
  • Technical Operations: a senior scientist who owns the mRNA production process, from research scale to outside manufacturers.
  • Clinical operations: a director who runs the first clinical trials and builds the team as its first member.
  • Operations: a lab operations specialist, a senior manager of lab operations, and an executive assistant to the CEO.
  • Computational Sciences: the first dedicated IT lead, who owns security, identity, and office and lab infrastructure.

Ten of the 12 postings give a salary range. The lowest is $70,000 to $125,000 for the lab operations specialist. The highest is $160,000 to $220,000 for the IT lead. Every employee gets health insurance, a 401(k) with a company match, paid parental leave, and 20 days of paid time off. NewLimit also offers equity.

What they look for

Scientist roles ask for a PhD in a related field or five or more years of industry experience. Several ask for hands-on work with mouse models and primary cell isolation. Several list single cell genomics, pooled screening, and work on a drug development program as a plus. Four postings ask for or prefer experience with contract research or manufacturing organizations. The research associate role asks for a bachelor's degree and two years in a lab.

Lab operations roles ask for three to seven years in a life science lab and the ability to find slow processes and fix them. The clinical director needs ten years in clinical operations and recent first-in-human trials. The IT lead needs four years in IT or security and already uses LLMs and agents. NewLimit says that everyone executes with at least part of their time. The postings do not describe the interview steps.
