Teams and roles

Levels run from interns and new graduates to staff and lead.

• Science: pre-training, alignment, multimodal, safety, code agents, and robotics, with PyTorch or JAX and distributed training on Slurm or Kubernetes. Many roles ask for a master's or PhD.
• Product engineering: backend, frontend, and agent features for Le Chat, Studio, and Vibe, in Python, Go, or Kotlin and React.
• Applied AI, the largest group: forward deployed engineers who fine-tune models and build RAG and agent apps with customers.
• Mistral Compute: site reliability, Go, network automation, data center hardware, and HPC fleet.

AI deployment strategists guide customers from pre-sale to production, with 30 to 60 percent travel and hands-on Python. Product management and design hiring is small.

What they look for

Mistral wants people who raise the bar. For science, product, and engineering, the process is an intro talk, two to five technical exercises, and a values talk. Engineering loops include live coding and system design. Other roles have one to three interviews, a case study or exercise, and a values talk. Mistral checks references before an offer. Postings ask for fluent English, and French is a plus. Some roles for sovereign institutions require French citizenship.
