Where they hire

Thirteen of the fourteen open roles are at the New York office, at Astor Place. One Implementation Manager role is remote, and its posting names no country. Maybern has a strong in-office culture, and people can work from home when needed. The Principal Forward Deployed Engineer travels about 25% of the time. The postings say nothing about visa sponsorship.

Teams and roles

The board lists fourteen roles. Six are in engineering and design, and the rest work with clients or run the company.

• Engineering: four Senior Software Engineer roles. One is on the Platform team, which builds data modeling, integration testing, and release tooling for the other engineers. One is an AI role that builds the chatbot, the MCP server, and agent workflows such as spreadsheet reconciliation. Engineers use Python and Django.
• Design: two Product Designer roles, one of them senior or lead. Both design for the Core Workflows and User Engagement squads. The work covers data visualizations, task management, notifications, and commenting.
• Implementation: two Implementation Manager roles. Each manages people on the Implementation team and works with client CFOs and controllers.
• Forward Deployed Engineering: a Principal Forward Deployed Engineer who leads client engagements and designs AI systems that clients run in production.
• Solutions Architecture: a Solutions Architect who sets up the platform for each client's fund structures.
• Account Management and Sales: an Account Manager who owns the client relationship after the sale, and an Enterprise Account Executive for the New York territory.
• Operations: a Strategic Finance Lead who owns the financial model, and an IT and Security Operations Engineer who is the first full-time IT hire.

What they look for

Client-facing roles want experience in private funds. Implementation Managers need five or more years in fund accounting, fund operations, or fund software implementation. The Solutions Architect needs six or more years. Both roles ask for an accounting or finance degree, Microsoft Excel, and knowledge of fund accounting systems such as Yardi or Investran. A CPA is a plus. The Account Manager needs five or more years in a client-facing role and a foundation in private funds.

Engineering roles want product-focused engineers who learn the business problem. Interviews are tech agnostic. The postings ask for a solid grasp of relational databases, transactions, and distributed systems. The Platform role asks for six or more years of software engineering. The AI role wants people who built agents, chatbots, or MCP servers.

The design, finance, and solutions postings ask for people who already use AI tools in their work. Designers need a portfolio that shows both user experience and visual design. Postings across teams ask for clear communication, attention to detail, and work across teams.

The interview has six steps. Maybern reviews each application and aims to reply within a week. A recruiter screen and a hiring manager interview follow. Then comes a take-home or live technical assessment, which depends on the role. A team interview and the offer come last.
