About Karat

The company, in brief.

What they do

Karat calls itself the world's largest interviewing company. Expert Interview Engineers run live technical interviews for companies such as PayPal, Atlassian, and Citi. Karat adds analytics and data from hundreds of thousands of interviews. Its customers include 7 of the 25 largest public companies. It started in 2014.

What they value

  • Win as one team, one Karat.
  • Create material impact for customers.
  • Support the whole person.
  • Embrace real talk.
  • Build trusted relationships.
  • Champion brilliance: everyone has access to opportunity.

Where they hire

All 12 Postings are remote, but each one names where you must live. US roles are open in nine or fewer states, such as Texas and Washington. Some need the New York or San Francisco Bay areas. Other roles need Bengaluru or Mexico City. US and Mexico Postings say Karat gives no immigration or visa sponsorship.

Teams and roles

Karat runs Brilliant Black Minds, a community of more than 11,000 diverse software engineers. The board lists 12 roles.

  • Sales and client roles (4): principal client advisors for finance and tech, a senior delivery partner, and a senior solutions engineer.
  • Product (2): a principal product engineer for interview innovation and a principal product manager in Bengaluru.
  • Engineering and content (3): a community engineer for Brilliant Black Minds, a senior data engineer, and a technical content engineer who writes interview questions.
  • Interview delivery (2): roles in Mexico City that recruit Interview Engineers.
  • A senior director of communications.

US Postings give a base pay range, often by location tier. Sales and delivery roles add commission or a bonus, and equity.

What they look for

Most roles ask for senior experience. Solutions engineering asks for seven or more years, and product and delivery for eight or more. Client advisors need ten or more years, and communications fifteen or more. The content engineer role asks for two or more years.

Technical roles ask for Python or another modern language, SQL, and AWS. Several ask for use of AI coding tools such as Cursor or Claude Code. Client roles ask for work with Fortune 500 clients and C-level leaders, and up to 20 to 30 percent travel. India and Mexico roles ask for strong English, and some need work hours that overlap with the United States.
