About Isar Aerospace

The company, in brief.

What they do

Isar Aerospace launches small and medium-sized satellites and satellite constellations into orbit. Its launch vehicle is Spectrum, a two-stage rocket that it designs and builds in-house. The company started in 2018 and has over 400 employees at 5 locations. Private investors fund it. In September 2026, Spectrum reached orbit on its second flight, from Andøya in Norway.

What they value

  • Positivity: believe in your dreams and keep a can-do attitude.
  • Focus: be clear and transparent, set priorities, and simplify.
  • Teamwork: improve yourself, admit failure, and celebrate success.
  • Leadership: take ownership with courage, decide, and be fair.
  • Respect: listen, value other views, and act with integrity.
  • Performance: be ambitious and bold, and keep your commitments.

Where they hire

Postings name Parsdorf (75) and Ottobrunn (25), both near Munich. Nine name Kiruna in Sweden, six name Andenes in Norway, and one names Canso in Canada. No Posting is remote or states a remote policy. No Posting mentions visa sponsorship. Some offer relocation support. Almost all say that security clearance rules can affect an application.

Teams and roles

The board has 113 Postings. Most are for hardware engineers and technicians.

  • Production, Operations & Quality: 28 Postings. CNC machinists, composite and welding technicians, additive manufacturing (metal 3D printing) operators, quality engineers, buyers, and logistics staff.
  • Spectrum AIT (assembly, integration, and test): 16 Postings. Avionics and assembly technicians in Ottobrunn, and the team at the engine test facility near Kiruna.
  • Vehicle engineering: 22 Postings in Propulsion, Launch Vehicle Structures, Spectrum, Avionics, AGNC (avionics, guidance, navigation, and control), Flight Software, and Reusability.
  • Ground Systems: 13 Postings. Fluid systems and mechanical engineers, and most of the software roles: desktop applications in C#, data and backend, developer tools, and software test.
  • Mission & Launch Operations: 12 Postings. Launch operations engineers in Parsdorf, the launch site team in Andenes, and a managing director for Canada.
  • IT, security, and site services: seven Postings, with two security engineers and two IT managers.
  • Talent, Commercial, Finance, and the CEO Office: 15 Postings.

Nine Postings are internships or working student roles. Three Postings say that they build a talent pool and do not hire now.

What they look for

Almost every Posting asks for English, and most ask for fluent English. About six in ten name German. Technician and machinist roles often require German, and 13 shop floor Postings are written in German. Many other roles call German a plus. Some roles in Kiruna ask for Swedish, and roles in Andenes say that Norwegian helps.

Engineering roles ask for a degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or equal experience. They ask for hands-on work with hardware and tests. Propulsion roles want experience with liquid rocket engines and with Python or MATLAB. Technician roles ask for completed vocational training, such as aircraft mechanic, and the ability to read engineering drawings.

Software roles name specific tools. The embedded role wants Python, C/C++, real-time systems, Linux, and CI/CD pipelines. The data role wants six years in C#, Java, Rust, or Python, plus Kafka and time-series data. The senior security role wants 10 years of hands-on security engineering.

Many roles ask you to travel to test and launch sites. Launch operations engineers travel for campaigns that last several weeks. Shop floor roles ask for shift work.
