About HP

The company, in brief.

What they do

HP makes laptops, desktops, workstations, monitors, and printers. It also sells ink, toner, and print subscriptions such as Instant Ink, plus Poly collaboration gear and HyperX gaming accessories. Its careers site lists over 100 career categories around the globe. HP offers internships in over 50 countries.

What they value

  • Look at the entire range of a person's experience for transferable skills.
  • Apply even if some qualifications do not match exactly.
  • Learn from each other, on the job and through structured development.
  • Give flexibility, support, and benefits for a life beyond work.
  • Support leadership growth, guided by HP's Leadership Principles.

Where they hire

The board has about 925 Postings in many countries. The United States has the most, mainly Spring (Texas), Vancouver (Washington), and Corvallis (Oregon). Singapore, Bengaluru, Sant Cugat near Barcelona, Tlaquepaque in Mexico, and the UK follow. Some sales roles in Spain offer a hybrid model. US intern roles offer no work visa sponsorship, now or later.

Teams and roles

Engineering and sales are the two largest groups.

  • Engineering: firmware, the low-level code that starts PCs and Z Workstations (called BIOS or UEFI), software built into devices, custom chip (ASIC) design, research for printers and PageWide Web Presses, and manufacturing test.
  • AI: agentic AI engineers, who build AI that carries out tasks, AI solution architects, and leads for AI adoption and for rules on AI platforms.
  • Sales: inside account executives, who sell remotely to medium businesses, and their managers in Sant Cugat for European markets, often in a named language such as Norwegian or German. Also partner, category, and distribution sales.
  • Early careers: many interns, year-round placements, and graduate roles.
  • Also finance, supply chain planning, marketing, product management, legal, design, and technical support.

What they look for

Several Postings list the same skills: effective communication, a focus on results, learning fast, digital fluency, and a focus on the customer. Most ask for a bachelor's degree in a related field. Firmware roles ask for strong C and hands-on BIOS, UEFI, or built-in device work. Senior AI roles ask for Python, machine learning, natural language processing, and large language models, with 10 or more years for the most senior. European sales roles ask for fluent English and a second language, plus curiosity about AI tools. A finance role in India asks for an accounting qualification (CA or CMA), Excel, Power BI, and SQL. The Postings do not describe the interview steps.
