What they do
HCF is Australia's largest not-for-profit health fund. It started in 1932 and has more than 2 million members. It sells hospital, extras, and ambulance cover, and also life, travel, and pet insurance. HCF runs its own dental centres and eyecare centres. It has no shareholders, so it says that it puts its money into its members.
What they value
- Step forward when there is a need to meet or a problem to solve.
- Get there together as one team.
- Make it better with open and creative problem solving.
- Stay human, and be your true self at work.
- Walk in their shoes, and understand the needs of others.
- Support flexible, family-friendly, and inclusive work.
Where they hire
All 21 Postings are in Australia. Eleven are at the head office in the Sydney CBD, and four are hybrid. Others are at branches and dental centres in Bondi, Pagewood, Hornsby, Maroochydore, and Tea Tree Plaza in South Australia. No Posting is fully remote. No Posting says anything about the right to work or visa sponsorship.
Teams and roles
Most roles are in member service, dental care, and the head office.
- Branches: four branch member consultants who sell health and life cover face to face. Training is one week at the Sydney head office.
- Dental centres: two dental assistants, two receptionists, and a part-time endodontist.
- Digital and technology: a digital product manager for payments and claims, a senior product designer for the design system, and an integration developer.
- Risk and legal: an IT risk and governance specialist, a manager for technology, data, and AI risk assurance, and a senior legal counsel.
- Marketing: a web content specialist and a media and AdTech specialist.
- Corporate: a pricing actuary, a strategy lead, a finance operations manager, and a team assistant.
Five roles are fixed-term contracts and one is casual.
What they look for
Sixteen Postings ask for good communication skills. Ten ask for work with stakeholders. Several office roles ask for experience in health insurance or another regulated industry. Few Postings give a minimum number of years, and those ask for two to five. Branch roles ask for experience in customer service and needs-based selling. Dental roles ask for dental experience. HCF reviews applications as they arrive, so a role can close early.
