About Harness

The company, in brief.

What they do

Harness is an AI software delivery platform. It brings AI and automation to the work after the code is written: testing, deployments, application security, reliability, compliance, and cost. Jyoti Bansal, the founder of AppDynamics, leads it. It has more than 1,200 people in 23 offices, and it serves 30 million developers.

What they value

  • Take calculated risks, and challenge the status quo.
  • Deliver results that matter, and move quickly with purpose.
  • Understand customer needs deeply, and build real value.
  • Learn, admit mistakes, and grow together.
  • Communicate openly and honestly.
  • Iterate, learn, and evolve.

Where they hire

Bengaluru has the most open roles. The rest are remote in the United States or in offices in San Francisco, London, Mountain View, New York, and Boston. Roles in Bengaluru are hybrid, three days a week in the office, with some overlap with United States hours. Many sales roles are remote. The postings do not mention visa sponsorship.

Teams and roles

Software development is the largest team, most of it in Bengaluru, then enterprise sales.

  • Engineering in Bengaluru: engineering managers, directors of engineering for continuous delivery and application security, principal engineers, and a director of quality engineering.
  • Sales: enterprise account executives, sales development, and deal operations.
  • Sales engineering: sales engineers, including for application security, and forward deployed engineers.
  • Professional services: engagement managers.
  • Product and marketing: product managers for code and container security, and developer relations.
  • Finance and people: payroll, treasury, and accounting.

What they look for

Engineering roles ask for many years and leadership. An engineering manager role asks for eight years and two years of managing engineers, with microservices and large data platforms. Director roles ask for fourteen to twenty years in backend work, with Go, GCP, and Kubernetes. Leaders need a startup mindset and the will to get hands on. Sales roles ask for a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Forward deployed engineers travel up to half the time. The postings do not describe the interview steps.
