The company, in brief.
What they do
Greptile makes AI agents that review and test pull requests with full context of the codebase. It builds a graph index of a repository. Then parallel agents look for bugs and broken coding standards. TREX runs a pull request branch in a sandbox to find runtime bugs. Customers can host Greptile in their own air-gapped environment.
What they value
- Hire great people before filling specific slots. Everyone wears multiple hats.
- Work in person, in an office with the team.
- Take high ownership and build things from zero.
- Stay independent: validation is the only focus, and Greptile works with every coding agent.
- Keep the team small and talent dense.
- Work directly with customers and use their feedback.
Where they hire
All 18 open postings are in San Francisco. The two account executive roles and the forward deployed engineer role are also open in New York City. The board marks 17 roles as on-site. Account executives and the controller work in the office at least three days a week. The postings do not mention visa sponsorship.
Teams and roles
Greptile calls itself a small group of researchers, engineers, and designers. The board lists 18 roles in six teams, and eight of them are in engineering.
- Engineering: generalist engineers at three levels, and infrastructure, frontend, research, and security engineers. Generalists work on LLM memory, codebase indexing in many languages, and semantic search for large codebases. A product engineer builds a new security product, with codebase scanning, a security PR bot, and continuous pentesting.
- GTM: enterprise and mid-market account executives, a forward deployed engineer who runs pilots and security reviews for customers, and the first RevOps person, who reports to the CRO.
- Growth: a growth engineer who runs experiments on the website and onboarding, the first field marketer, and a founding product marketing manager.
- Product and design: one product manager and one product designer.
- Finance: a controller, who is the first accounting hire.
The dashboard is a TypeScript web app. Infrastructure engineers also help the largest enterprise customers deploy Greptile in their own environments. Every posting except the product designer one states a pay range, and all of those include equity.
What they look for
All eight engineering postings ask for a B.S. in Computer Science or an equivalent degree, and six ask for JavaScript or TypeScript. The generalist, infrastructure, frontend, and forward deployed roles ask for one or more years of experience. The security engineer role asks for three, the senior generalist for four, and the staff generalist for six. The infrastructure role also wants computer networking, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS. The research role wants research experience in math, computer science, or physics.
Account executives must show that they sold to engineers and went past quota in complex sales cycles. The enterprise role asks for five or more years of closing experience in B2B SaaS. The product manager, product designer, and field marketer roles each ask for three or more years in their field. Many postings say that the right person likes the chaos of high growth and prefers in-person work. The postings do not describe the interview steps.
