The company, in brief.
What they do
Great Question makes an agentic user research platform. Teams use it to recruit participants, schedule and run interviews, surveys, and prototype tests, analyze the results, and share insights, all in one place. Its users are researchers, product designers, and product managers. Customers include Gusto, Experian, Canva, and Brex.
What they value
- Customer obsessed: understand customers, not just please them.
- Relentless prioritization: do the work that moves the needle.
- Always great: raise the bar, and balance speed with rigor.
- Froth: make space for fun, play, and appreciation.
- Trust in action: openness, candor, kindness, and follow-through.
- Lean into AI in all work, from writing to coding.
Where they hire
Great Question is a fully remote team that works async and writes things down. Its five open roles are in the United States and Canada. The product engineer can work anywhere in Canada and is paid in Canadian dollars. The team mostly works Pacific hours. The postings do not mention visa sponsorship.
Teams and roles
Great Question went through Y Combinator in 2021 and raised a 13 million US dollar Series A led by Inovia. It calls itself a small, senior team. The board lists five roles.
- Engineering: the first product engineers in Canada, who take a problem from the customer call to production. They build with Rails APIs, React and TypeScript, video streaming, real-time voice agents, and agentic search. An engineering manager leads the Methods and Insights teams.
- Product: two product manager roles, one in the US and one in Canada. Each owns an area with three to four engineers and reports to the Head of Product.
- Sales: a business development representative who books meetings for the account executives through outreach. Cold calls come first, with at least 100 dials a day.
What they look for
Every role expects heavy use of AI. Engineers must work in an agentic coding tool such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor every day. Product managers must use AI tools daily and have shipped AI features, such as MCP servers.
The product engineer role asks for about five or more years with real ownership, strong full-stack skills, and production systems. Rails and TypeScript help but are not required. The engineering manager must be at least a solid senior engineer who still writes code. Product managers need five or more years in B2B software. The sales role asks for one to three years of sales, ideally SaaS.
The product engineer interview has a call with the CTO, a quality session, a 90-minute building session with your own AI tools, a team round, and a talk with the CEO. It has no leetcode. Sales applicants must also contact the hiring manager and ask for a screener call.
