What they do
Graphcore builds AI compute: silicon, hardware, software, and systems infrastructure. Its first chip shipped to Microsoft in 2018. SoftBank Group bought Graphcore in 2024, and it now runs as a wholly owned SoftBank company under its own name. It opened an AI engineering campus in Bengaluru in 2026.
What they value
- Think big: take on hard problems and act quickly.
- Act fast: bring energy and urgency to decisions.
- Take responsibility: keep commitments and help others deliver.
- Speak up: ask questions, share views, and disagree and commit.
- All-round leadership: step up, whatever the job title.
- Transferable skills: apply if you meet most of the essential criteria.
Where they hire
Most roles are in Bristol, UK. Others are in Austin, Bengaluru, Cambridge, Gdańsk, London, Milpitas, and Taiwan. No role is fully remote, and some are hybrid. Most UK postings need the right to work in the UK and give no visa sponsorship. Most Poland and Taiwan postings need the right to work there. US and India postings do not say.
Teams and roles
The board has 206 roles. Most are in silicon design, hardware, and the software that runs AI models on Graphcore hardware.
- Post-silicon validation: brings up, debugs, and validates new chips and systems. Most of these roles are in Bengaluru and Austin.
- Silicon design in Bengaluru: logical design, physical design, and verification.
- Software in Bristol, Cambridge, and Gdańsk: frameworks that connect Graphcore hardware to PyTorch and Triton, Kubernetes infrastructure, and machine learning engineering on large systems.
- Austin: server firmware, test software, and data center engineering.
- Milpitas and Taiwan: supply chain, sourcing, and manufacturing test.
- AI research: research engineers in Bristol, Cambridge, and London.
The board has 28 graduate and intern roles in the UK, most of them in Bristol for 2027. Graduate roles pay £45,000 a year, and summer internships pay £2,500 a month. Most applications close on 29 November 2026.
What they look for
Most postings ask for Python, and many ask for C++ and Linux. Machine learning roles ask for PyTorch or JAX, and for C++, CUDA, or Triton kernels for speed. A kernel is a small program that runs on the accelerator chip. Infrastructure roles ask for Go, Kubernetes, and a cloud such as AWS.
Many silicon design roles ask for RTL (register-transfer level) design or SystemVerilog. Physical design roles ask for Tcl and Python scripts, and for chips made at 7nm or smaller. Firmware roles ask for C and C++, UEFI firmware, the PCIe bus, and DDR memory. Many postings ask for a degree in engineering, computer science, or maths.
Many postings say that Graphcore values transferable skills. Some also welcome engineers who come back after a career break. Early-career roles ask for a CV and a cover letter, then a technical test and in-person assessments.
