About FleetWorks

The company, in brief.

What they do

FleetWorks makes AI agents that book truck freight in the United States. One agent works for carriers. It calls brokers, negotiates rates, and sends load offers. Another agent works for freight brokers. It answers carrier calls and emails, negotiates rates, and books loads. The agents work over phone, text, and email.

What they value

  • Own your work from start to finish.
  • Ship new work every day.
  • Work directly with customers.
  • Learn from others and teach the people around you.
  • Have empathy for users and colleagues.
  • Explain an offer openly, including how the pay was set.

Where they hire

The board lists six open roles, all in the United States. Four are in San Francisco and two are in Chicago. Each engineering role also names the other city as a second location. Four roles are marked on-site, and none is marked remote. The postings say nothing about visas or sponsorship.

Teams and roles

The board has two teams, Engineering and Product. FleetWorks calls its team small.

  • Engineering: four senior roles. They are a software engineer in Chicago, a product engineer in San Francisco, and a backend engineer in each city. Engineers build features end to end and work directly with the founders and with customers. The company uses TypeScript across the stack and runs thousands of agents.
  • Product: a product manager and a senior product manager in San Francisco. They set the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the broker AI products with the CEO and the founders. They work with engineering, operations, and go-to-market teams to ship.

The company blog says that one carrier call uses several agents. Separate agents identify the caller, clean the load data, negotiate, and book. Small, fast models run the conversation, and larger models run booking confirmations. FleetWorks trains its own models for transcription and speech.

Two San Francisco engineering postings list a base salary of $160K to $240K with equity. The other postings list no pay figure. All postings offer cash and equity, medical, dental, and vision benefits, and paid lunches and dinners.

The board also has a "Get In Touch" entry for people who see no role that fits.

What they look for

Engineering postings ask for at least three years of full-time software development. They ask for experience owning features end to end on products that customers use. Engineers must be comfortable with TypeScript or able to learn it quickly. The postings also ask for an interest in hard problems and empathy for users and colleagues.

Product postings ask for a history of building high-impact products. They want a person who works well in ambiguity and makes fast decisions with good judgment. They ask for experience with data in an AI-first company, where the right questions matter more than perfect SQL. They also ask for experience helping customers adopt a product and manage change.

Engineering hiring has four steps. The first is a short call with the Talent Lead. The second is a 45-minute live-coding interview with an engineer on the team. The third is a paid work trial at the office. The last is an offer that explains how the company set the pay and what the equity is worth. Product postings do not describe the interview steps.
