About Firecrawl

The company, in brief.

What they do

Firecrawl makes an API that lets developers and AI agents search, scrape, and interact with the web. It turns web pages into clean Markdown and structured data for LLMs. The main project is open source. In September 2026 it launched Alexandria, a knowledge library that pays data providers when AI agents use their sources. Firecrawl started in 2022.

What they value

  • Stay a small team where each person does a lot.
  • Own a real piece of the product from end to end.
  • Work with great urgency and ship fast.
  • Judge people by what they built, not where they studied.
  • Use AI heavily in daily work.
  • Build like founders: 80% of the team are former founders.

Where they hire

All 34 openings are in San Francisco, and 19 also name Toronto. Most are hybrid, with three or more office days a week. Six Revenue and Success roles are on-site five days. Two legal roles may be remote in US time zones. Firecrawl does not sponsor US visas now. It considers sponsorship in Canada case by case.

Teams and roles

Every posting gives a salary range and offers equity.

  • Engineering (12 openings): product engineers for Scrape, Parse, Agent, and Alexandria. There are also search, machine learning, backend infrastructure, cloud DevOps, web automation, and enterprise solutions engineers, and two research engineers for evals and public benchmarks. The infrastructure runs on GCP and on-prem with Kubernetes.
  • Revenue and Success (6): forward deployed, sales, implementation, and success engineers, a technical BDR, and a senior software engineer who owns pricing and upgrade flows. These roles work with the Deployment team.
  • Growth (7): a head of brand, a head of growth marketing, a content marketer, and a social video producer. Three are engineers: one for signup and onboarding, one for how AI agents use Firecrawl, and one who owns the open source repo.
  • Legal (5): a general counsel, two commercial counsel, a legal engineer who writes code, and a legal operations manager. Legal is being built from scratch.
  • Also: the first chief financial officer, an AI enablement lead who runs internal agent tools, a partnerships manager who signs data providers for Alexandria, and a support engineer.

The growth engineering postings name the stack: Next.js, React, Tailwind, TypeScript, Vercel, PostgreSQL, and the Claude API.

What they look for

Postings ask for proof of shipped work, and say they care about what you built, not where you went to school. They want people who take an unclear problem and ship it without a fully specified ticket. Each posting also lists who it does not want. Engineering roles ask for three to five or more years of experience. Customer-facing roles need people who can read code, use an API, and build a proof of concept themselves. Legal, finance, and operations postings make heavy daily AI use a hard requirement. Counsel roles need bar membership.

Most roles follow the same steps: an application with examples of your work, a 25-minute intro chat, a 45-minute technical chat on a real problem, and a founder chat. Then comes a paid work trial of about 40 hours at a contractor rate. The trial can be remote and fits around your current job. Senior legal and finance roles use a shorter paid exercise in place of the trial, and the general counsel and CFO roles add reference calls.
