About Dropzone AI

The company, in brief.

What they do

Dropzone AI builds AI agents for security operations centers (SOCs). Its AI SOC Analyst investigates each security alert from start to end and shows the evidence behind its verdict. Its AI Threat Hunter runs hunts across a customer's SIEM, EDR, and cloud tools. The agents connect to more than 90 security tools by API.

What they value

  • Bias for action: make informed decisions fast and own the outcomes.
  • Self awareness: know your limits, stay humble, and use feedback to improve.
  • Invent and simplify: hold high standards and cut complexity.
  • Intellectual honesty: tell the truth and address problems directly.
  • Build together: win as a team, with low ego and work across functions.

Where they hire

Dropzone AI is a 100% remote company. People work from home with company equipment. Nine of the ten open postings are remote in the US, and one is remote in the UK. The account executive must live in the Northeast US sales territory. Most postings expect some travel, with some nights away. The postings say nothing about visa sponsorship.

Teams and roles

Half of the ten open roles are in engineering, and most roles are senior.

  • Engineering: an AI research engineer who designs the agents, their memory, and the tests that measure them. A senior security engineer owns the quality of the investigations and writes Python in the product. A senior DevOps engineer owns the infrastructure, which uses Pulumi and Kubernetes. The DevOps and security engineers join a 24x7 on-call rotation.
  • Security research: a head of security research who reports to the founder and CEO and builds a team of detection and response experts. A detection engineering lead works in R&D on an AI agent that writes detection rules. The posting says that the lead does not do detection work for customers.
  • Sales: an account executive for mid-market and commercial customers, a federal regional sales manager for US civilian and defense agencies, and a principal sales engineer who runs demos and proofs of concept.
  • Customer success: a senior technical account manager in the UK who helps customers set up integrations and tune the system.
  • Product: a senior technical writer who owns the customer documentation and reports to the Head of Product.

Every posting gives a base pay range, and most say that offers include equity grants.

What they look for

Nine of the ten postings ask for comfort with ambiguity and very fast execution. Six ask for people who decide from data. Six ask for knowledge of how a SOC works or of SOC tools such as SIEM and SOAR. The account executive and federal sales roles ask for three to five years of enterprise sales in SOC security and a record of meeting quota. The AI research, DevOps, and security engineer roles ask for four to six years of experience and strong Python. The security research roles ask for five to eight years in detection and response. The AI research engineer needs one year of generative AI work in production. The federal sales role asks for knowledge of US federal buying, and a TS/SCI clearance is a plus. The postings do not describe the interview steps.
