About Darktrace

The company, in brief.

What they do

Darktrace builds an AI security platform that detects and responds to cyber threats, including unknown ones. The platform covers network, cloud, email, endpoints, and operational technology. Founded in 2013, Darktrace has about 10,000 customers and over 2,400 staff. Its research centers are in Cambridge, UK, and The Hague. Thoma Bravo, a software investment firm, bought it.

What they value

  • Own It: own outcomes end to end, and step in without waiting to be asked.
  • Win as One: work across teams toward a shared goal.
  • Raise Our Bar: say the hard thing, and hold each other to high standards with care and directness.
  • Move First, Learn Fast: decide with urgency and learn where customers go next.
  • Growth: the company invests in skills and learning, and rewards curiosity.
  • Integrity and accountability, which most Postings name as part of the role.

They include software engineers in TypeScript, Python, C++, and Swift, a frontend engineer, a platform engineer for Kubernetes, a DevOps engineer, a site reliability engineer, a Machine Learning Researcher, two security researchers, a Product Manager, and a VP of Engineering.
  • Sales: 13 Postings for Account Executives and sales leaders, plus two for strategic accounts and two in the partner organization.

What they look for

Engineering Postings in Cambridge ask you to show in the interview that you can write code for production. They name one main language for each role, such as TypeScript, Python, or modern C++, and call other languages a benefit. The platform engineer and DevOps Postings ask for Kubernetes experience. The platform engineer Posting also asks for infrastructure as code with Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines (automated build and release). Many engineering Postings ask for knowledge of, or interest in, cyber security.

Research roles ask for depth. The Machine Learning Researcher needs a PhD or master's degree in machine learning, or equal experience, and Python libraries such as PyTorch. The Malware Researcher needs malware analysis and reverse engineering.

Technical Success Manager Postings ask for 3 or more years in a technical role that works with customers, and knowledge of enterprise security, networking, or cloud. Most market roles need English and the language of the market: French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Polish, Swedish, or Danish. The two Tokyo Postings are written in Japanese and English.

Account Executive Postings ask for B2B sales experience across the full sales cycle at enterprise level, and several name uncapped commission. Sales Development Postings ask for confidence in cold calling and use of tools such as Salesforce. The support engineer Posting asks for no prior experience. It asks for a strong background in mathematics or science.
