What they do

Cygni Energy makes lithium-ion battery packs and battery energy storage systems (BESS). Its products cover electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers, homes, commercial sites, telecom, data centre UPS, and large container systems for the grid. It builds them at its own factory in Hyderabad, rated at 4.8 GWh. Cygni was incubated at IIT Madras.

All 19 open roles are in India and full-time. Sixteen are at the factory and head office in Maheshwaram, Hyderabad. Two are at project sites in Gujarat, one of them in Dholera. One sales role is in Pune or Hyderabad. The postings do not mention remote work, the right to work, or visa sponsorship.

Teams and roles

Most open roles are in the factory. There are no software roles on the board.

• Production: an assembly manager who runs the automated module and pack lines, a senior engineer who supervises testing and records on the floor, and a production planning executive.
• Quality: a head of quality who brings processes to automotive standards such as IATF 16949, and three engineers for incoming, in-process, and final inspection.
• Maintenance: a senior engineer who keeps welding machines, test benches, HVAC, and diesel generators running. The role works rotating shifts and is on call for breakdowns.
• Supply chain: a head of supply chain, a sourcing executive who finds cell and component suppliers in India and abroad, and a purchase executive.
• Product engineering: a CAD engineer, an FEA engineer who runs structural and vibration analysis on packs, and a lead for battery management systems and wiring harnesses.
• Projects: a site engineer and a manager who build and commission utility-scale BESS plants in Gujarat.
• Business development: a manager for home and small commercial storage who owns that segment's profit and loss, and a regional lead for Maharashtra.
• Marketing: a digital marketing manager for the website, SEO, and lead generation.

What they look for

Almost every role asks for an engineering degree, most often electrical, electronics, or mechanical. Engineer and executive roles ask for two to six years of experience, and factory roles prefer people from lithium-ion or lead-acid battery manufacturing. The two head roles ask for eight to fifteen years. Quality roles want knowledge of IATF 16949, the 7 QC tools, and root cause analysis, and a willingness to work on the shop floor. Design roles name tools: SolidWorks, AutoCAD, CATIA, or Creo for CAD, and Ansys or Altair for FEA. Project roles want site experience in utility solar, BESS, or substations. Sales roles want a network among solar EPC companies and a record of meeting sales targets. Several postings ask for good written and spoken communication.
