About CircleCI

The company, in brief.

What they do

CircleCI makes a CI/CD platform (continuous integration and delivery: it builds, tests, and ships code after each change). It runs more than 3 million jobs a day. Hinge, Hugging Face, and Samsung use it. CircleCI started in 2011 and has its head office in San Francisco. Venture firms such as IVP, Sapphire Ventures, and Base10 back it.

What they value

  • Understand the problem before you solve it.
  • Think like the customer, and do what is right for them.
  • Own the outcome, not only your part of it.
  • Learn fast: run experiments, accept failure, and scale what works.
  • Do your best work, with diverse points of view.

Where they hire

Most roles are in San Francisco. Engineering roles are remote in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Two sales roles are remote, one sales role is in Tokyo, and a solutions role is in San Francisco or London. The company works on a hybrid model. No Posting mentions the right to work or visa sponsorship.

Teams and roles

The board lists 13 open roles.

  • Engineering: software engineers at three levels on the Product Experience team. They build full stack in Go, React, and TypeScript, and use Honeycomb, Datadog, and Rollbar. Engineers join CircleCI, not one team, and can land on pipelines, deploy tools, notifications, billing, AI agent surfaces, or the web platform.
  • Sales: strategic account executives for North America, EMEA, and Asia Pacific, a sales manager, and a solutions engineer.
  • Marketing, customer success, revenue operations, and accounting.

Every Posting gives a base pay range. US engineering pay changes with the metro area.

What they look for

Most roles ask for a number of years in the field: 3 or more years for a software engineer, 5 or more for a senior engineer, and 8 or more for a staff engineer. Most non-engineering roles want knowledge of CI/CD or DevOps and experience with technical buyers. Engineers need strong React and TypeScript, backend services in Go, and system design. Engineering and sales leadership roles ask you to use AI tools every day. Sales roles ask for enterprise SaaS (software as a service) sales and methods such as MEDDPICC and Challenger.
