What they do

Bild AI uses computer vision and AI to read construction blueprints. Today it is an AI takeoff platform for Division 8: doors, frames, and hardware. A takeoff is the count of materials from the plans. Distributors and estimators across the US use it to bid more, and push the results into their quoting systems.

All four open roles are in San Francisco. Engineering roles are full time in the office. People must live in San Francisco or move there, and Bild AI helps with the move for the customer success role. The intern must be in San Francisco for the internship. Teams and roles

Puneet and Roop founded Bild AI. The board lists four roles.

• Engineering: a founding AI engineer, a founding product engineer, and an AI and software engineering intern. The AI engineer applies computer vision, LLMs, and multimodal AI to messy real-world documents. The product engineer interviews customers every week and ships features across a React frontend and a Python backend.
• Customer success: the first customer success manager. This person owns a book of Division 8 distributors, trains estimators, and travels two to four times a month to visit them.

Every posting gives pay. The founding engineer roles include 0.1% to 0.4% equity.

What they look for

The engineering roles want people who built an AI product from zero and put it in production. The AI engineer needs applied computer vision or machine learning experience. The product engineer needs good product taste and must be comfortable talking to customers. A construction background, or a product that people used or paid for, counts as a plus.

The customer success role asks for three or more years in Division 8, in estimating, detailing, project management, or inside sales. It also asks for hands-on use of a quoting tool such as Comsense, AVAware, or TOAD.

The engineering interview is a 15-minute intro, a one-hour whiteboard round, a one-hour coding round, and a paid work trial of three to five days. The customer success interview ends with a two to three day paid trial with real customers. Applicants are asked to name their favorite fruit.
