What they do

Atlan collects metadata from data systems such as Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, and Tableau into one graph. Data and governance teams use it for catalogs, governance, lineage, and data quality. AI agents use the same context through an MCP server, SQL, and open APIs. Atlan has about 400 enterprise customers and started in 2019 in Singapore.

Where they hire

Atlan is remote-first and async, with people in more than 15 countries. All current openings are remote, and most are in India. Some India roles work North American hours, from 7pm to 4am IST. Account executive roles are in California, and one security role is also open in the UK and Ireland.

Teams and roles

The board lists only a few openings, and most engineering roles are senior.

• Data platform: a principal software engineer and a senior engineering manager in India. The work is backend and infrastructure, with multi-tenant isolation, ingestion, data contracts, a lakehouse, vector and graph stores, and Kubernetes.
• Engineering practice: RFCs and architecture reviews set standards. Engineers write code with Claude Code and Cursor, and the goal is zero hand-crafted code.
• Security: corporate security and security reviews for customers.

Business development roles in India sit in a North American sales pod and use Salesforce. Enterprise account executives sell to chief data officers and CIOs. The board lists no product or design openings now.

What they look for

Atlan says its bar is high. Every posting asks for real daily use of AI. The associate BDR role asks candidates to show something they built with AI. Hiring has five stages: a talent partner call, a deep dive on real projects with the hiring manager, and a take-home or live work sample. Then comes an interview with a senior leader or founder, and the offer. Candidates can use AI to prepare and usually in take-homes, but live interviews must show their own thinking.
