About ASX

The company, in brief.

What they do

ASX is a listed exchange group in Australia. It offers listings, trading, clearing, and settlement. Its markets cover equities, fixed income, commodities, and energy. It also offers technology, data, and information services. ASX says that one in three of its people work in technology.

What they value

  • Power a stronger economy through a fair and dynamic marketplace.
  • Celebrate diversity and make inclusion part of everyday work.
  • Support flexible work, including part-time work.
  • Work together with purpose.
  • Lead teams where people feel empowered, accountable, and connected.
  • Hire on skills and on how a person lives the ASX values.

Where they hire

All 64 Postings are in Australia. Sixty-two are in Sydney, one is in Perth, and one is at the primary data centre. Fifty-eight are hybrid and six are on site. Seventeen are fixed-term or daily-rate contracts. Every Posting says that you must have permanent, unrestricted rights to work in Australia.

Teams and roles

Most roles are in technology, risk, and the systems that run the markets.

  • Software and platform engineering: eleven roles, with Java, .NET, DevOps, cloud, and trading systems on Linux.
  • Risk and compliance: ten roles, including operational resilience, business continuity, model risk, and third-party risk.
  • Data: five data engineers and one data analyst, most of them on AWS.
  • Business analysis and architecture: six business analysts and two solution architects for derivatives, clearing, and futures trading.
  • Infrastructure and support: networks, Linux servers, AWS databases, SWIFT messaging, and customer and end-user support.
  • Cyber security and testing: four roles each.
  • Markets and operations: listings supervision, cash equities product, clearing and fixed income operations, CHESS stakeholder engagement, and a quantitative analyst.
  • Corporate: finance, company secretaries, an executive assistant, and Salesforce administration.

What they look for

Fifty-two Postings ask for work with stakeholders. Twenty-seven name a minimum number of years, from 3+ to 10+. Twenty-one ask for experience in a regulated environment, such as financial services or critical infrastructure. Technology roles often name AWS, Python, Kafka, and CI/CD. Every Posting asks you to apply even if you do not meet all the criteria. ASX does reference and police checks before you start. For most permanent roles, ASX does two interviews.
