About Anyscale

The company, in brief.

What they do

Anyscale builds a platform to run Ray, an open-source framework for scaling ML and AI work from a laptop to a cluster. OpenAI, Uber, Spotify, and Instacart use Ray. Anyscale runs on any cloud and on-prem (in a customer's own data center). Andreessen Horowitz, NEA, and Addition back it, with over $250M raised.

What they value

  • Center every decision on customers and the Ray community.
  • Raise the bar, and push past what is expected.
  • Take the long view, and skip the shortcuts.
  • Move fast, and celebrate progress, big and small.

Where they hire

Eighteen Postings are in San Francisco and three are in Bengaluru. Two also list Palo Alto. The enterprise sales role is open to the Bay Area or remote. The board marks eight Postings hybrid and one on site. Postings say Anyscale uses E-Verify, but none mentions visa sponsorship.

Teams and roles

Offices are in San Francisco, Palo Alto, and Bengaluru. Most open roles are in engineering.

  • Ray Core: engineers who build the C++ backend of Ray, such as the distributed scheduler.
  • Ray Data: engineers who build the Ray data library for ML training and data pipelines, and a product manager.
  • Platform infrastructure: engineers, an SRE (site reliability engineer), and a manager who run Ray clusters on cloud and Kubernetes.
  • LLM and ML: a distributed LLM inference engineer, ML developer experience, and an ML engineer for customers.
  • Security and compliance: product, cloud, and detection and response security engineers, and a compliance manager.
  • Customer engineering and sales: a head of customer engineering and an enterprise account executive.

US Postings give a base pay range from $170K to $375K, and most offer equity.

What they look for

Every Posting is about distributed computing and Ray. Engineering roles ask for 3 to 6 or more years of production code, and security roles ask for 6 to 8 or more. Many ask for deep experience with distributed systems. Ray Core roles ask for C++, and Ray Data and platform roles ask for Python. Several list Kubernetes and the major clouds (AWS, GCP, or Azure). Several engineering roles ask for a degree in computer science or equal experience.
