About Ando

The company, in brief.

What they do

Ando makes team messaging for humans and AI agents. It aims to be a new Slack, with channels, DMs, and calls. Agents join a workspace as members, not as apps, and they use the team's context over time. Teams can bring agents from anywhere, such as Claude, Codex, or Devin. Ando raised $20M and charges per human seat.

What they value

  • Keep human attention for what matters, as agents take on more work.
  • Give people more room for the work only they can do.
  • Care a great deal about how software feels.
  • Build to last: be patient about decisions that compound.
  • Show evidence over credentials.
  • Use Ando every day.

Where they hire

All six Postings are full time and on site in San Francisco. No Posting is remote. The Postings say nothing about the right to work or visa sponsorship.

Teams and roles

Ando is a small, early team. Each role is one of the first of its kind.

  • Product engineering: founding engineers build the messaging infrastructure, the MCP and API platform for agent developers, a sandbox system, memory and retrieval, and the layer that runs proactive agents.
  • Mobile: one engineer owns the Expo and React Native app, drops into Swift or Kotlin when needed, and runs releases to the App Store and Play Store.
  • Research: a small research team builds evals and benchmarks from real workspace data. Its problems are when an agent speaks up, what it remembers, and continual learning.
  • Design: a brand designer works on motion, sound, the logotype, and the palette. A product designer builds the core UI and design system, and writes code.
  • Business operations: a generalist runs either internal work, such as office, compliance, and offsites, or external work, such as recruiting events and customer gatherings.

What they look for

Every Posting asks for proof of work. Designers need a strong portfolio. Research wants work samples such as eval frameworks, not credentials. Engineers walk through an app they shipped. Ando wants people who use AI agents every day. The product engineer Posting tells people who do not use agents daily not to apply. Postings ask for speed without a drop in quality, and for taste: name the software or apps that inspire you. Product engineers need 3 or more years of full-time work. Mobile engineers need 2 or more years of apps in the App Store. Engineering and research hiring is a 30-minute intro call, a technical talk, then a paid take-home or an in-person work trial.
