About 1Password

The company, in brief.

What they do

1Password makes the enterprise password manager and Unified Access, a platform that secures sign-ins for people, AI agents, and machines. Over 200,000 businesses use it. It started as a remote company in 2005, has more than 1,400 employees, and has $400M in annual recurring revenue.

What they value

  • Take on hard problems, and ask for feedback to grow.
  • Adapt fast, and do well in ambiguity and change.
  • Be curious, and deliver results.
  • Learn AI, and use it in your daily work.
  • Challenge the status quo, and try things until you find the best answer.
  • Build an inclusive team where people belong.

Where they hire

Most Postings are remote in the United States or Canada. Others name London, Toronto, New York, Austin, San Francisco, Germany, and Sydney. Some sales roles are hybrid in Toronto and Austin. Remote work means work from your home country, and most roles need some travel. No Posting mentions visa sponsorship.

Teams and roles

1Password calls itself remote-first. About half the open roles are in GTM (go-to-market: sales and customer teams). About a third are in Technology.

  • Sales: account executives from SMB to enterprise, business development representatives, and channel and renewals managers in North America, the UK, Germany, and Australia.
  • Solutions and sales engineering: technical experts who help customers during the sale, including Field CTO roles.
  • Product engineering: developers in Rust, TypeScript and React, .NET, Go, and iOS, on teams such as Authorization, Web Extension, Growth, and Open Source.
  • Security: incident response engineers and a manager, and a privacy engineer.
  • IT and data: IT engineers, analytics engineering, and data analysts.
  • Product, marketing, legal, and communications roles.

Most Postings give a base pay range in USD, and many also give one in CAD. For example, the Rust developer role pays $123,000 to $172,000 USD.

What they look for

Most Postings ask for a set number of years of experience, often 4 or more or 5 or more. Developer roles ask for TypeScript and React or a backend language such as Go. Sales roles ask for a record of meeting quota and for experience selling security or identity products. Many Postings ask you to explain technical ideas to people who are not technical. Engineering Postings ask for skill with AI tools in daily work. Every Posting asks you to pass a background check. Many say that you join live interviews without AI tools.
